The got several calls about a fight brewing in the parking lot on Sept. 9, according to a report.
The victim told police he saw a woman in her 20s yelling abusively at her child inside the store and heard an older woman tell the woman not to talk to her child that way, the report said.
The victim heard the suspect tell the older woman that she would be waiting outside the store for her. The man followed the older woman outside and the suspect was waiting there and started yelling and screaming at her.
The victim intervened so the older woman wouldn't get hurt and told the woman she shouldn't talk to her child that way and the woman slugged him in the face, the report said.
The suspect said "I'm happy I did it," according to the report, got in her car and drove away. Another witness told police she saw the woman hit her child several times.
The victim was able to get the license number and police ran the plates and headed over to the Akron home for a welfare check. The woman was not there, and the man who answered the door said he lent that car to his son and gave police his phone number.
When police called the number, the boy said he was at Walmart with a woman but when they started questioning him he acted like he didn't know what they were talking about.
Police are still looking for the suspect.
