Woman Harassed by Loose Pitbull While Walking Dog on Rickel Drive

Information provided by the Bath Township Police Department.

A woman was walking her dog in the 2200 block of Rickel Drive on July 31 when a pitbull ran up and "attacked" her, according to a report.

The dog didn't actually hurt the woman, but was barking and growling, the report said. When police arrived, the dog charged at the officer, but when the officer cracked his stun gun, the dog ran to the back of the house.

The dog approached the officer several more times before finally running through a hole in the backyard fence of the residence. A neighbor and the officer worked to board the hole while they waited for the dog warden.

The owner of the dog could not be reached.

Shannon, any time a dog attacks, I report on it. See here: http://fairlawn-bath.patch.com/articles/door-to-door-steak-salesman-bit-by-dog German Shepherds in this case.

Hi guys, I guess I am bieng a little sensitve that the breed is called out in the headline of one story but not in the other. Also that barking pitbull = headline, biting shephard = dog. I understand that you don't literally sell papers. But money comes for somewhere, I assume web hits, facebook subs and the like. And you lnow as well as I do a harassing pitbull will draw more people than saying a barking dog. That being said I do appriciate the news you provide and the support of the local animal shelter with running stories of adoptable pets.

Thanks, Shannon. I will pay more attention to my wording next time. Thanks for reading!

This same dog jumped on my 6 year old. It's a nuisance and the owners do nothing about it. They should fine the owner or take the dog. I forgot to call the police but will be doing so due to this timely reminder. Thanks Patch

I am a dog lover and I don't care what breed of dog it is, I live and walk my dogs in this neighborhood all of the time and none of us want to encounter a dog coming after us while we are walking alone or with our animals. Patti K
