Wine Bottle in Trash is a Clue Woman Has been Drinking: Fairlawn Police Blotter

A 63-year-old Akron woman faces two charges after allegedly stopping at Croghan Park for a drink March 23.

Police got a call about 9:20 a.m. from someone who said it looked like a woman was drinking wine in her vehicle at the park.

Officers, who noted they could smell an alcoholic beverage in the Jeep, questioned the woman, who denied the allegation. 

She said she had been drinking a diet soda, which she tossed in a nearby trash can.

When police checked, though, they found a 1.5-liter wine bottle.

The woman eventually admitted to drinking in her running vehicle, and also showed police another wine bottle in the Jeep.

She was charged with open container and violating Fairlawn's park rules.
