Wanted Man Runs from Fairlawn Police

A officer spotted a man hanging around Rosemont Commons who had a warrant out for a probation violation, according to a report.

A Fairlawn officer drove through and saw the man, John Wargo, 45, of Canal Fulton, at the standing with a woman, the report said. They were fishing around in a full cart of groceries from

Wargo and the woman spotted the police officers, ditched the shopping cart and began to flee the area, the report said. They both headed into the Dollar Tree, Wargo heading toward the back of the store and the woman heading to the right.

Officers chased Wargo through the back where an employee said she saw him go toward the dumpsters, the report said. Wargo was caught and arrested by the officer.

The woman managed to make it to the West Market Street bus stop where another officer caught up with her.

The loss prevention officer from Giant Eagle said neither Wargo or the woman paid for the groceries in the cart, which was mainly meat, and totalled more than $100. The woman admitted to the theft, the report said.

Wargo and the woman were arrested, the report said. Giant Eagle did not wish to press charges until the security guard looked at the surveillance footage.
