Victim Turns Tables on Robber: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Fairlawn Police Department

A 54-year-old man decided not to be a victim when a robber armed with a knife approached about 8:30 p.m. Sept. 10, according to a police report.

The report gave these details:

The man was locking the doors for the night at the Hilton Inn on West Market Street when a man approached, showed a knife and demanded money.

The victim reached into his back pocket as if he were getting his wallet, but instead grabbed a pair of slip-joint pliers.

He blocked the knife with his left hand and with his right, struck the suspect in the head with the pliers.

The suspect looked stunned, then took off running into the woods toward Elia Circle.

The victim suffered a small puncture wound to his left thumb, but declined treatment.

The suspect was black,  25 to 30, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and wearing sunglasses, a black hoodie and red shoes.
