A North Revere Road resident got a scare Tuesday afternoon when three men attempted to break into her home while she was inside. Her description of the suspects' vehicle led a officer on a chase that ended in a crash.
According to police, the victim reported that a suspicious vehicle backed down her driveway in the 800 block of North Revere at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. She did not respond when the suspects rang the front doorbell and "pounded very hard" on the door.
The suspects then backed further down the driveway and approached separate doors in the rear of the residence. One subject opened a rear sliding door and another entered an enclosed rear patio, according to police.
When they saw the homeowner looking out a window, the suspects ran to their vehicle and left rapidly, heading northbound on North Revere Road. The victim gave police a description of the vehicle, which an officer spotted traveling westbound on Yellow Creek Road.
Police said the suspects' vehicle fled at a high rate of speed westbound on Granger Road from North Cleveland-Massillon Road and crashed at Granger and Shaw roads.
The suspects were arrested and charged with attempted burglary. The driver was also charged with felony fleeing, driving under suspension and reckless operation. All three were booked into the Summit County Jail.
