Bath Township Man Found Unconscious; Burglar Sought

71-year-old victim suffers head trauma.

Bath police are seeking a burglary suspect who is believed to have attacked the resident, leaving the victim with severe head trauma.

Police returned Tuesday to seek more evidence from the scene of the crime, 685 Lois Dr., which took place on or before June 27.

A representative of Mobile Meals found David J. Allen, 71, out of his wheelchair and unconscious on the family room floor about noon on June 27 and called Bath EMS. Police were called in when EMS noticed apparent signs of a ransacking. Several rooms had been turned over.

Allen was taken to Akron General Medical Center for treatment and later transferred to another health care facility.

Police Chief Michael McNeely said this burglary and assault did not appear to a random act of violence. He said neighbors should be alert for suspicious activity and report any unusual activity to Bath police at 330-666-3736.
