Shopping Mom Leaves Kids Unattended in Running Van

A Copley mother will be appearing in court on a charge of leaving her four children inside a running vehicle in a parking lot while she did some “quick shopping,” according to .
A police lieutenant reported that he was flagged down at 1:12 p.m. Dec. 20 in the west parking lot regarding children left unattended in a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country minivan.
The Fairlawn officer located the vehicle, running with its keys in the ignition. Its occupants were siblings: three boys ages 11, 8 and 1, and a girl, 4.

Their mother, 30, returned to the vehicle at 1:24 p.m. and told police she “had entered Macy’s for some quick shopping and decided to leave the children in the vehicle running because it was cold outside.”
The woman was issued a summons to appear in court on a charge of leaving children unattended in a running motor vehicle, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.
