Rosemont Country Club Employee Caught Stealing, Selling Gas

On two different occasions, the maintenance supervisor at Rosemont Country Club noticed gas and gas cans had been stolen from a storage barn, according to .

On March 22, he reported that someone used a blunt object to pry open the man door on the barn and five gas cans were taken. Outside he found the cap to one of the cans and that the power to the gas pumps had been switched on. In all, roughly $390 in gas was taken, the report said.

Police said the supervisor suspected the culprit was an employee who hadn't shown up to work in a few days.

When police and the supervisor went to the Akron man's house, he wasn't home, but they spotted the barn's man door strike plate in the employee's truck bed. Police later found the man walking down Hawkins Road.

At first the man denied stealing the cans and gas, but later admitted that he stole it and sold it to a friend. He told police he used the money to buy cocaine and that he also used 10 gallons of gas from the pump to fill his truck.

The man was charged with felony breaking and entering, police said.
