Police Hear Man Threaten Ex-Girlfriend Over Speakerphone

Instead of taking a victim’s word that she was being threatened by an ex-boyfriend, were able to hear the man via speakerphone as he told the woman “her daughter would not have a mother anymore.”
The 24-year-old Fairlawn woman, who lives in an apartment on South Miller Road, called police at 1:25 a.m. Dec. 8 to report that the father of her 2-year-old daughter was threatening her over custody issues.
The woman told police her ex, a 24-year-old Akron man, had called several times between 12:50 and 1:25 a.m. and that he had threatened to shoot her. While two Fairlawn officers were at the woman’s apartment, the man continued to call and make threatening statements that were heard via speakerphone.

The man said “he was watching from outside the apartment and that he was waiting for (the woman) to come out. He stated that when she came outside, her daughter would not have a mother anymore.”
The woman signed criminal charges and an arrest warrant on a charge of aggravated menacing, a misdemeanor, was issued for the man.
