Impaired Motorist Nabbed on I-77

The following information was supplied by the Bath Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Bath Police received several witness reports of a possible impaired motorist on Interstate 77 at 5:42 p.m. Nov. 21. Several officers went to the area and watched as a black Ford pickup crossed lane markers several times and almost caused a crash near the Ghent Road overpass.

Police stopped the driver, whom they said had “slurred speech and appeared extremely lethargic. He was also very pale in appearance.”

The man performed poorly on sobriety tests. Found inside the vehicle were a plate and straw with white powdery residue on them, numerous Schedule III tablets and sample packets of a prescription medication.
