Man Swipes Running Shoes, Leads Police on Chase & Threatens Officers

A man walked into the at on June 17 and swiped a box of shoes from the shelf, according to a report.

The man hid them under his shirt and ran from the store. The shoes were valued at $170, the report said. He ran through the parking lot and across Smith Road.

Police chased after the man but lost him until someone yelled that he ran toward Sterling Jewelers. A woman there said the man offered to pay her money for a ride but she refused.

Officers found the man inside Sterling and he was arrested, the report said. Once he was in the police car, the man refused to give his identification and told police he would "put a hit on the whole police squad," the report said.

The man was taken to the Summit County Jail.
