Stow Man Conceals Stolen Outfit Before Leaving Macy's

Information provided by the Fairlawn Police Department.

A Stow man walked into on March 12 and managed to conceal almost a whole outfit before leaving the store, said.

The 32-year-old was spotted taking a watch off a counter and putting it in his pants pocket. He made his way into the men's department and picked up two pairs of shorts and two pairs of jeans and walked into the dressing room.

Police said the man came out of the room with nothing, and when store security checked the dressing room, only the plastic bands from the watch case were in there.

They followed the man to the jackets, where he asked a clerk to remove the security tag off a leather coat so he could try it on, police said. The man put the coat on, then put his coat over it and made his way out of the store.

Police stopped him shortly after he walked out and recovered the $446 of stolen merchandise. Police released him from the scene with a court summons and he was banned from Macy's for three years.
