A resident of the 2200 block of North Medina Line Road had part of a finger bitten off while trying to break up a fight between his two dogs.
Chief Michael McNeely said the man drove himself to the – and brought his severed finger along – just after the incident that occurred around 7:30 a.m. April 3.
According to a police report, "the dogs became involved in a physical altercation." While attempting to separate the fighting canines, one of them bit the man's right hand, severing his middle finger at the first joint.
A Bath EMS squad took the man to a hospital for treatment.
McNeely said his department notified the Summit County Public Health District office about the incident.
As to the fate of the biting canine, "it's the owners choice what to do with the dogs," he said.
