Man Rescued from Burning Garage: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Fairlawn Police Department

Police kicked down a garage door on Dalton Road to rescue a man trapped by fire Aug. 17.

A report said officers were called to the house about 7:30 a.m. by a woman who said her husband was drunk and she thought he might try to kill himself in the garage.

When police arrived, they saw smoke coming from the attached garage and could hear a man calling for help.

An officer kicked open a door and police helped the man out.

The man, who was hospitalized for his injuries, insisted he did not start the fire. An investigation is continuing and charges of domestic violence and aggravated arson are pending.
