Man Finds Machete Buried Under Leaves in Yard

Information provided by the Bath Township Police Department.

A Bath Township man raking leaves in his yard uncovered something that prompted him to call Bath Township police immediately, according to a report.

The San Raphael Drive man found a 2- to 3-foot machete in his yard, right under one of his window sills.

Police searched the area, and checked his phone box, but there was no damage or signs of tampering anywhere, according to the report. It appeared the machete had been lying on the ground for a while because it was rusted.

The man requested extra patrol in the area, but nothing suspicious was reported, police said.

Chief Michael McNeely said he did not suspect the machete was used in the recent break-ins in the Crystal Lake area where phone lines were cut.
