Littering is a Crime -- Especially when It's a Beer Can Thrown from a Car

The following information was provided by the Fairlawn police department

An Akron man may have used some bad judgment when he decided to throw a can of beer out his car window -- with a police cruiser behind him.

A report said a Fairlawn officer was following a car on West Market Street about 7:45 p.m. March 15 when the driver made a turn and used that opportunity to throw "a large can" out the passenger-side window.

When the officer stopped the car, the driver admitted to drinking two beers and to throwing a can, but said it was only a can of Arizona.

When another officer was sent to retrieve the can, the man admitted he had lied.

The container was a 23.5-ounce can of malt beer, the report said.

The driver, 26, was cited for open container, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle and littering.
