Grocery Shopper Accused of Shoplifting $329 Worth of DVDs

The following information was supplied by the Fairlawn Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Grocery shopping apparently wasn't on the agenda for an Akron man who was arrested at for shoplifting $329 worth of DVDs.

Fairlawn Police were called Nov. 11 at about 2 p.m. by a security agent at the West Market Street store. The agent said he watched as a man concealed “on his person” 11 DVDs with a combined value of $329, then leave the store.

The 49-year-old unemployed Akron man was detained in the security office by the agent until police arrived.

According to a report, the man admitted the theft to police and gave a written statement. He was processed at the store and released with a summons to face a charge of theft, a first-degree misdemeanor, in Akron Municipal Court.
