Funeral Home Employee Fired For Stealing $600

The following information was supplied by the Bath Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A representative from called on Dec. 22 to report a $600 cash theft by an employee who has now been fired.

The man told police the funeral home's office manager identified inconsistencies while reconciling deposits on Dec. 13. Staff members found that a $600 cash deposit had been received for services, but was never deposited to the business account.

Funeral home employees also found that a check from June “had been altered and placed into the paperwork along with a fraudulent receipt in an attempt to cover up the cash theft,” the police report stated.
