Four Shoplifters Arrested at Dillard's

responded to the following reports of post-Christmas shoplifters at Dillard’s at :

  • Police were called at 5:02 p.m. Dec. 28 by a police officer working uniformed off-duty security at Dillard’s north who had two shoplifters in custody. A store security camera operator had watched as the two men hid a pair of Levi’s jeans valued at $39.99 inside a shopping bag. The men were stopped after passing all the cash registers and taken to customer service. Both admitted to the theft and were arrested. The 18-year-old Akron resident was released with a summons to appear in court on a misdemeanor theft charge. The other, a 16-year-old student at Ellet High School, was taken to the police department for processing and later transported to the Summit County Juvenile Justice Center. Both were barred from Dillard’s indefinitely. 
  • A police officer working uniformed off-duty security at Dillard’s north called police at 6:45 p.m. Dec. 30 to report he had a female shoplifter in custody. The Akron woman, 24, took a pair of Miss Me jeans valued at $99 into a fitting room then left without jeans in hand. Police apprehended the woman outside the store and found the jeans inside her purse. After being arrested, she admitted to the theft, was processed in a police cruiser and released with a summons for misdemeanor theft. She is banned indefinitely from all Dillard’s stores.
  • A Dillard’s security camera operator called police at 4:13 p.m. Jan. 2 to report a shoplifter who had left the south store through the mall doors. The Fairlawn man, 26, was seen entering a fitting room with three Polo shirts, then leaving the room with only two shirts. A check of the fitting room revealed only a wooden hanger without its $69.99 shirt. Police located the man in the parking lot and a store manager came out and identified him. The man denied taking any merchandise and refused a written statement. He was arrested and released with a summons to appear in court on a misdemeanor theft charge. He has been banned indefinitely from all Dillard’s stores.
