Woman tells police cart-driver hit her on purpose when she failed to yield.

A woman told police that an employee of deliberately ran into her car with shopping carts because she failed to yield to him in the crosswalk.

Deborah McCombe said she was driving her husband’s car through through Fairlawn Town Center on Tuesday Feb. 22 when the employee purposely struck the right side of her car with the carts. She said she noticed scratches on the car when she washed it April 6.

The employee told police he didn't hit McCombe on purpose, he just couldn't control the carts.

Both  parties were advised that the report was sent to the prosecutor for review. 

Police are investigating a breaking and entering at Lady Nails salon, 2679 W. Market St., Akron.

Two hundred dollars, a 26-inch Toshiba flat screen television, a remote control, a television mounting unit and a shelf were taken from Lady Nails, 2679 W. Market St. some time between 10:30 p.m.  April 3 and 9:50 a.m. April 4. Police said the lock on the front door had been sawed off. The total amount of the loss is estimated at $1050.

Someone broke into the at 2683 W. Market St. between 5 p.m. Sunday April 3 and 9:41 a.m. Monday April 4. A drop safe, valued at $500 and $200 cash was taken.  The manager told police the safe had been bolted to the floor. The back door of the business was been pried open.  

An Akron man who was stopped for a traffic violation was jailed April 9 for carrying two loaded firearms.

Christopher N. Jennings, 21, of Nome Ave., Akron was in the parking lot in when he was stopped by police at about 7 p.m. He was cited for failure to transfer a license plate and register a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue.

Acording to a report, police became suspicious when Jennings kept trying to close the car door during questioning. A search of the car revealed a .22 caliber Ruger revolver under the front seat and a six-shot handgun in the glove compartment of the car. Both guns were loaded. The Ruger had nine rounds in the magazine, and an extra magazine containing 10 rounds was found in the car.

Jennings was charged with two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, a fourth- degree felony, and improper handling of firearm in motor vehicle. He was taken to Summit County Jail.
