Driver Hits Same Car Twice Before He's Arrested: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Bath Township Police Department

Police arrested a man for drunken driving May 2 -- but not before he hit the same car twice as he tried to park.

A report said the man was weaving on Cleveland-Massillon Road, swerving into oncoming traffic about 7:15 p.m.

With an officer following, the man turned onto Bath Road and into the Bath Elementary School parking lot, where he tried to pull into a parking space, striking another car.

He then tried to back out, but, with police blaring a siren, he stopped, a report said.

The officer told him to put the vehicle in park, but he did not, and the car rolled forward, hitting the same car for a second time.

The officer had to reach in the window and put the car in park himself, the report said.

The man failed field sobriety tests. Police found a half-full bottle of vodka and half-full bottle of whiskey in the car, along with a full bottle of wine.

The man, 57, was charged with drunken driving and released to a friend.

Missing a Dirt Bike?

A Shaw Road resident left home for an hour May 3 and returned to find a dirt bike lying in the front yard.

A report said the bike has not been reported stolen.

Officers took it to the police station until the owner is found.
