Bomb Threat Clears Bank: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Fairlawn Police Department

A bomb threat forced an evacuation of First Merit Bank on West Market Street Friday afternoon.

An employee told police she got a call about 4:45 p.m. from a man with a deep voice who said "I placed a bomb inside of your building" and hung up.

Employees and customers were evacuated. A police officer and bank managers then went inside and searched for a bomb, but found nothing suspicious.

Workers were allowed back inside at 5:15 p.m. and a police officer stayed till the bank closed.
