Bath Police Take Man's Guns for 'Safekeeping'

took several shotguns and a .22 caliber rifle from a Shade Road home as "a precautionary measure" after a woman called to report that her husband was dealing with "psychiatric issues."
The woman called police just after 9 p.m. Nov. 12 to report that her husband had walked away from their home. The woman told police her husband suffers from depression and “has been distraught recently over a belief of his wife’s infidelity,” according to a report.
Police searched the area and found the man, who then returned home. The man told police he had a Nov. 15 appointment with a psychologist.

As a precautionary measure, police took several shotguns and a .22 caliber rifle from the home to be held at the police department "for safekeeping."
The man now must present a medical note to get his weapons back.
