Bath Police Blotter: Drunken Motorcyclist Crashes, Liquor Theft and Marijuana Smoker Caught in the Act

The following arrest information was supplied by the Fairlawn Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, prohibited concentration and operation without reasonable control: On Wednesday, August 3 at 12:16 a.m., a officer witnessed a man fall off his motorcycle on North Cleveland-Massillon Road.

When the officer arrived at the crash scene it did not appear that the man needed medical attention. However, the officer did detect a strong odor of alcohol. According to a police report, the man seemed confused.

The man failed several sobriety tests. The motorcyclist was then arrested and taken to the Richfield Police Department, where it was determined that his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. He was issued multiple DUI citations.

Suspicion, drug abuse and drug paraphernalia: A hapless marijuana smoker was at the wrong place at the wrong time last Friday afternoon when an off-duty officer saw him using what he believed to be marijuana.

The officer smelled marijuana as he approached the vehicle. Police discovered a half-smoked marijuana cigarette, a glass pipe and tobacco papers.

The man was arrested and released with a summons for drug-related misdemeanors.

Theft, criminal trespassing:  On Saturday, August 6 at 7:56 p.m., an security guard watched a man attempt to leave the store with a cart full liquor and grocery items without paying.

He was held until police arrived, and admitted to the petty theft. Police valued the stolen goods at more than $600.

The man also was charged with criminal trespassing.
