Animal Cruelty; Repo Man Takes Abuse: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Fairlawn Police Department

A Copley man who left his dog in his vehicle while he shopped at Summit Mall might not make that mistake again.

Police broke into the man's truck, let the dog out and then cited the owner.

A report said police were called to the mall about 5 p.m. July 16 after someone saw a 20-pound beagle inside, with all the windows cracked less than 2 inches.

Police tried to call the owner's cell, but got no answer.

With the temperature at 84 degrees, police decide to use lockout tools to get into the vehicle to get the dog some air.

The owner, 40, of Copley, came out about 5:40 p.m., just after police opened the door. He was cited for cruelty to animals.

Just Doing His Job

A man trying to repossess a car told police he was assaulted by the vehicle's owner July 17.

A report said the repo man saw the owner of the car park and go into a business on Embassy Park, so he started to tow the vehicle.

The man ran out and tried to drive off, but the repo man told him he had to get out of the car.

The owner went back inside, then suddenly came back out, opened the passenger door of the tow truck and punched the drive several times in the head and stomach.

He ran off, but was later arrested for assault.
