charged an Akron woman with animal cruelty on Aug. 17 after she left a dog in her hot car for more than an hour, a report said.
Security personnel at called Fairlawn police after several people reported a dog left alone in a car, the report said. security went to the car and waited for the owner to come. When she didn't, they called police.
An officer on scene described the windows as being slightly cracked and said the dog was "panting heavily." He was able to get a temperature reader into the car and it measure the car was between 102 and 114 degrees. The outside temperature was 77 degrees, the report said.
When the Akron woman came out, she said the dog had been in the car for over an hour and that it wasn't her dog, the report said.
