A Bold Scam Works at Business: Police Blotter

The following information was provided by the Bath Township Police Department

A sneaky scam paid off for a woman who went into a Medina Road business April 15 and said she was owed a refund.

A report said the woman, who was with a boy who was about 10, told the clerk she was due $23.96 for four drinks she had purchased earlier in the day.

She told the worker that she had spoken with an employee on the phone, who told her to come back in for her refund.

The worker gave it to her. Another employee, though, became suspicious and followed the woman into the parking lot, where she got into a van driven by a man.

They appeared to be counting money, the report said.

Employees on the morning shift later said they had not promised a refund to anyone that day.

The witness got a license plate number, but it did not match the van the suspects were driving. Police put out an alert with a description of the vehicle.
