Dog and horse both pulled from water

Officials said the horse was exhausted, but otherwise fine.

Two days later, firefighters waded into icy water on Spring Valley Road to save Bobby, a dog that fell through the ice and was trapped in a lake.

The dog could barely keep his head above water when firefighters arrived, but they were able to grab hold of the pup and pull him to shore.

Fire Chief Walt Hower said in his monthly report that the department also participated in a roof rescue in Richefield during March and handled an electrical fire on Springside Drive.

The department had 28 fire and 58 emergency medical calls during March.
