Alice J. Smith, 90, Mother

Alice J. Smith (nee Von Gunten), 90, formerly of Copley, passed away July 6.

Smith was born in Copley on Aug. 31, 1921 in Copley to Ernest and Erma Von Gunten. She was a graduate of . Smith still has family in the area. She spent the last years of her life in Venice, Fla.

Smith is survived by her children, Robert (Claudia) Smith, Michael (Debi) Smith; grandchildren, Angela, Rob (Missey) and Amber (Jason); brothers, Chuck (Pauline) and Jim (Thelma); and sister, Faye Hill. Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; husband, Ted Thompson; son, Jerry Smith; brother, Bob; sisters, Irene, Thelma and Joyce and John Barris.

Funeral service will take place today at 2 p.m. at the Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd., Copley. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. prior to the service. Burial at Copley Cemetery to follow.
