Mother’s Day gifts support local women and girls

Following Women’s History Month in March, Akron Community Foundation is offering community members the chance to honor the special women in their life with a Mother’s Day gift that will benefit women and girls across Northeast Ohio.

During the month of April, donors can make tribute or memorial gifts to the Women’s Endowment Fund and the Medina County Women’s Endowment Fund in honor of women who have impacted their lives. In turn, those women will receive a beautiful Mother’s Day card informing them a gift was made in their name, though the amount will not be disclosed.

Donations will ultimately support the funds’ grant-making. The Women’s Endowment Fund awards grants to programs that improve women’s economic empowerment, safety, and health and wellness. The Medina County Women’s Endowment Fund targets programs that specifically enrich the lives of women and children in Medina County. Both funds aim to empower women as philanthropists.

“The Mother’s Day campaign is a great opportunity for individuals to honor a loved one with a beautifully decorated card while also supporting causes that uplift women and girls,” said Kathy Booth, president of the Women’s Endowment Fund.
