ROLLING THUNDER POKER RUN TO BENEFIT VETERANS FISHER HOUSE

POKER RUN TO BENEFIT FISHER HOUSE

I am an Air Force Mom, and as I get older and I meet more military veterans in the path of life, one thing shines through.. The sense of brotherhood between the veterans.  It crosses generations.  I meet Vietnam Veterans who warmly hug and greet each other... I meet men and women from Iraq and Afghanistan who are strongly linked together through various groups. They all hang out together.

In this blog, I am going to offer you the opportunity to attend an activity, or to lend a helping hand.  Please read and consider - one person's help can mean a lifetime of change to another person.

FIRST, there is a photo attached to this blog. It's a poster for an upcoming Poker Run, sponsored by Rolling Thunder -  100% of Proceeds Raised Directly Benefit the GREATER CLEVELAND FISHER HOUSE.

The Greater Cleveland Fisher House will be a 16,000 square foot home with 20 suites accommodating up to 42 family members. The house offers a “home away from home” and a safe and comfortable sanctuary to family members as their loved ones recover from their wounds.

If you ride with a motorcycle group or you are an individual type of guy or girl that rides and looking for a worthwhile activity in August - consider this worthy cause that will help our own Ohio veterans. Please check out the poster and sign up NOW!

SECONDLY, A number of the therapy dog teams I volunteer with will be attending a workshop on August 10 at the Summit County Valor Home prior to volunteering there with our therapy dogs.  The Valor Home is transitional housing for homeless military veterans.   The men move from homelessness to having a safe place to live while being counseled and helped to move into their own living space and living a life on their own.

The Valor Home has many "creature comfort" items on a Wish List. Even if you don't ride a motorcycle, or don't have time to volunteer for projects, if you DO have a few spare dollars, please consider picking up one or more of the items on the following "Wish List" for the Summit County Valor Home.  Many of the items are under $5 or $10. Anything you can share, WILL help.

Our veterans are our reason for our freedom. Lend a helping hand to those who gave everything they could for us.  You.  Me.  Our Families. This is an easy way to show that you care and appreciate our wonderful Ohio military veterans who now could use OUR help.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart,

Jeni Cox
