Copley Trustees Meeting June 20, 2012

Copley Township working with Summit County on two important programs: Job Preservation and Tax Sharing Agreement and Moving Ohio Forward Grant program.

  • Agreed to renew the Summit County’s Job Preservation Agreement; if a business is given incentives by one Summit County community to relocate from another Summit County community, the receiving community must share income tax revenue from that business with the leaving community for a specified period of time.
  • Agreed to participate in the Moving Ohio Forward Grant whereby the Township would receive, from the county, a match of local funds for the demolition of blighted, abandoned properties. Estimates for demolition of these eight properties totals approximately $45,000.00. The Board agreed to commit up to $50,000.00 toward the local match portion of the grant and passed resolutions in support of the county’s application for the grant funds.
  • Approved Resolutions requesting the Summit County Fiscal Officer to calculate the yields for both a replacement and a renewal of the 2.0 mil levy for the Police Department; the current levy expires 12/31/12.
  • Granted permission to enter into a 24-month agreement with IGS for natural gas at a fixed rate of 4.49 per mcf
  • Granted approval to amend the radio system grant expenditure to include mobile repeaters (one for each fire department) and fixed repeaters at Revere and Copley High Schools. The amendment will use excess funds from the grant of $19,677.00
  • Approved the application to the 2012 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program to replace 3 heart monitors with Lifepak 15 monitors at a cost of approximately $70,000; Copley’s share of the grant would be 5% or approximately $3,500.00; the Board approved a Blanket Certificate for the local match of $3,500.00
  • Accepted a donation from an anonymous source of one Bak-Pak II Long Spine Immobilization Board valued at $206.95 to be incorporated for use with the rescue equipment
  • Granted permission to apply to the Veteran’s Administration for four veteran’s markers for soldiers of the War of 1812 buried at Copley Township Cemetery
  • Approved a Resolution to have the Summit County Engineer’s Office prepare plans and specifications for the 2012 Concrete Overlay Paving Program for Pinewood Spur
  • Approved a Resolution requesting the Summit County Engineer to prepare plans and specifications for the replacement of the culvert on Janwood Drive
  • Approved the hiring of Jason B. Chisar as a part-time Police Officer subject to the one year probationary period
