Akron Community Health and Screening Fair

Students in the Northeast Ohio Medical University Hispanic Community Outreach Group are hosting a
free Community Health and Screening Fair at St. Bernard Parish Basement, 44
University Ave. in Akron, Ohio, Sunday, March 9 from 2-5 p.m. Spanish speaking students and physicians will
provide free health screenings, consultations and advice for living a healthy
lifestyle.

The Hispanic Community Outreach
Group is focused on interacting with the local Hispanic population through
community health education events and volunteering in regional health clinics
which treat a primarily Hispanic demographic. 

At the health fair, community member will have
the opportunity to rotate to various health stations where they will receive
screening tests and education about a variety of health issues ranging from
diabetes to cholesterol, obesity and glaucoma. There will be a private area for
HIV testing and the opportunity for participants to ask questions about the
virus.
