Healthy Heritage Brings Natural Foods to Ghent

Farmer's market is community supported agriculture.

Joel Kurtz, owner of Healthy Heritage LLC, runs the weekly farmer’s market. Healthy Heritage is community supported agriculture, meaning that people from the community can purchase shares in the farm and then pick up a weekly share of crops. It brings together a group of local farms, all using organic, mineral-enriched soil to make chemical-free food. At the market stand you can find all sorts of vegetables, natural cereals, bread and even flowers. Kurtz hopes to expand to be able to sell meat and cheese. The market is open Wednesdays from noon to 2 p.m. at The Bake Shop in Ghent.
