Check out a career fair, a bus trip and a lesson about going green: pick and choose from this week’s array of events.


Where/When:  Tri-C West, 11000 W Pleasant Valley Rd., Parma; tonight from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Early registration begins at 5 p.m.

Why Go: This is a good opportunity for high school students to explore more than 25 health care careers. Program representatives from Tri-C's eastern, metropolitan and western campuses will be on hand to answer questions. Representatives from the enrollment center and financial aid will also be available for questions.

Where/When: F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm Visitors Center, 1828 Smith Rd., Akron; Thursday at 6 p.m.

Why Go: Expand your green know-how and learn about the recyclable materials all around you. Help feed the birds with the "treasures" you will make out of discarded bottles.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: Stow Parks & Recreation, 5070 Stow Rd., Stow; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3:30  p.m.

Why Go: Take the family on a community bus trip to Dover and visit Warther's Museum & Hot Rod City Restaurant. Check out Ernest Warther's ebony, ivory and walnut train carvings. Lunch will be at its retro, filling-station themed eatery.

Pricing: Tickets are $24.


Where/When: Hale Farm & Village, 2686 Oak Hill Rd, Peninsula; today through Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

Why Go: Students in kindergarten will compare and contrast sugar camps, tools, techniques and technology used in the sugaring process. They will also visit the Hale Sugar House and other sites to learn more about sugaring in the local community. The program repeats at 2 p.m. Registration is required.

Pricing: $6 per student.

• YOUNG BIRDERS: WATERFOWL

Where/When: Towpath Trail, 2928 Riverview Rd., Akron; Sunday at 1 p.m.

Why Go: Naturalists Meghan Doran and Pat Rydquist will take young birders ages 8 and up to check out the migrating waterfowl on Summit Lake. Spotting scopes, binoculars and bird books will be provided.
