Benefit Helps Stewart's Caring Place Help Cancer Patients

Ninth annual Butterfly Gala this Saturday features French theme. Tickets available online until 5 p.m. Thursday.

Stewart’s Caring Place: Cancer Wellness Center’s ninth Annual Butterfly Gala will be held on Saturday at the home of Dr. Kevin and Brenda Spear. Tickets can be purchased online at StewartsCaringPlace.org or by calling 330.836.1772.

This year’s event, themed An Evening in Paris, will include Parisian-inspired dishes by Beau’s Grille of Akron and authentic French music; attendees will feel as if they stepped into an idyllic café on the cobblestone streets of Paris. A 15-foot Eiffel Tower replica and two auctions led by emcee Heather Burns and Bob Hale of Benefit Auction Services will make the night memorable.

Tickets, which can be purchased online, start at $175 per individual, and include open bar, appetizers and dinner by Beau's. Sponsorships range from the $500 Patron Sponsor to $10,000 for a Signature Sponsor.

Proceeds from the evening will make it possible for to assist more than 1,000 local individuals each year during their cancer journeys. Services include workshops, counseling, support groups, children’s programs, wigs and more at no cost to those in need.

Located on the corner of Miller Road and West Market Street in Fairlawn, Stewart’s Caring Place: Cancer Wellness Center provides support services, free of charge, to individuals and families touched by cancer in Summit, Medina, Stark, Portage, and Wayne counties. Stewart’s enhances the quality of life for those living with cancer by offering a wide range of programs and services in a caring environment of healing and support. Programs and services include workshops, a resource center, massage therapy, community referrals, yoga, counseling, support groups, attorney consults, children’s programs, wigs and more. Stewart’s opened its doors in 2004 and is named in memory of Dr. Stewart Surloff, who lost his battle with cancer in 2001.
