West Market GetGo Construction to Begin in August

Planning Commission approved the final GetGo site plans Thursday night.

In August, Giant Eagle will start construction on a GetGo gas station at the corner of West Market Street and Trunko Road. Fairlawn Planning Commission approved final site plans for the project Thursday night at .

The . Customers traveling east on West Market can make a right turn in, but have to exit at Trunko Road. Customers cannot access the gas station by making a left turn from West Market.

To accommodate the increased traffic at that intersection and on Trunko, Giant Eagle has agreed to pay for more than half of the cost to widen Trunko Road to add a left turn lane and a left turn signal. The original plan did not call for any improvements to that intersection, which is why

Giant Eagle also came to agreements with the neighboring to make sure there are no deliveries before 5 a.m. or after 10 p.m. Giant Eagle also agreed to build a buffer wall in between the two businesses so noise from the gas station will not disrupt DoubleTree guests.

"I just want to say thank Giant Eagle for their cooperation," said Fairlawn Council President Russ Sharnsky. "This was quite an undertaking to get to this point. This is not the most ideal situation, but you are taking care of a property that's become blighted."
