Restaurant Eyed at Former Jimbo's Site

But plan faces costly obstacles, Bath says

A Bath Township resident has submitted a plan to turn the former Jimbo's drive-through into a take-out restaurant.

Richard J. Baker proposed leasing the property to sell homestyle meals, township officials said.

The building at the corner of Ghent and Cleveland-Massillon roads has been vacant about a decade.

But the plan faces some hurdles. Township Administrator Vito Sinopoli said it appears the septic system serving the property was taken out when the former BP site next door was cleared.

"I think that's going to be problematic," Sinopoli said. "It could be cost prohibitive."

BP removed gasoline storage tanks and remediated the site years ago.

Sinopoli said the township sought a report from the Summit County Health Department on whether the on-site wastewater treatment system was removed, and said it appears that it was.
