, 115 Ghent Road, is on the path toward expanding into the former Distinctions building, said proprietor Susan Mozingo at Monday's city council meeting.
Council supported her decision to go forward with the expansion and to construct Fairlawn's only wine bar.
Mozingo offers wine tasting, and has a permit for that, but not to serve.
"I'm planning to have the wine bar open by summer," Mozingo said.
Mozingo is still working out the details, but she hopes to seat between 35 to 40 people and offer a food menu. Mozingo wants her customers to be able to hold special events at the bar.
"There's nothing like this in Fairlawn right now," Mozingo said. "It'll be something between a bar and a restaurant ... something cozy and comfortable where people can come to relax and enjoy good food and good wine."
Regency offers a large selection of wines and beers from around the world. Mozingo stressed there aren't many places that offer higher end Bordeaux, Burgundy or Italian wines.
