Marriott Residence Inn Coming to Embassy Parkway in Fairlawn

The company plans to break ground this fall.

For the last two years, Radius Hospitality, of Canton, has wanted to build a Marriott Residence Inn on Embassy Parkway in Fairlawn. Because of the economy, it was difficult to get financing for new construction approved and it never happened.

At Thursday's Planning Commission meeting, Scott Yaeger, president of Radius Hospitality, came back to ask for a rezoning of the property, a conditional use permit and approve of the final plan to build. Yaeger hopes to break ground in the fall.

Yaeger said the financing should be finalized soon.

The extended-stay hotel will have 107 rooms and sit on four acres of land. The building is roughly 76,000 square feet and will have more than 40 percent green space outside, Yaeger said. The hotel has a pool, fitness center, outdoor sports courts, and one- and two-bedroom suites with kitchens.

"It's supposed to have a residential feel," Yaeger told the commission. "We take great pride in what we do and we want there to be an overwhelming sense of arrival when clients pull in."

Planning Commission approved the conditional use permit and the site plan, and recommended City Council approve the rezoning.

Yaeger said the company has wanted to build a hotel in this area for several years and is excited to finally have the opportunity.
