Looking for that perfect holiday gift? We rounded up area sources for handmade gifts. Check out the list below.

  • 44 Steel: Rocky River welder Jason Radcliffe’s website features custom industrial-style furniture, but he also sells smaller items, like $20 wine stoppers. One is made from a steel fence at an Ohio City restaurant. Contact Jason Radcliffe at his website to order. 
  • Crafty Goodness: This Lakewood store offers 100 percent locally-made merchandise, from home décor to jewelry, and arts and crafts classes.
  • Cambria’s Creations: Cambria Wolfe makes lovely jewelry and takes orders for custom pieces. And don’t worry about the drive. This North Canton store has an Etsy page, too, so you can order online.
  • The Kiln: This Brecksville shop sells pottery that you paint at the store. Personalize anything from a coffee mug to a pet food bowl for anyone on your list.
  • Ewes d'Bleu Yarns of Distinction: Always wanted to learn to knit, or brush up on your skills? This Beachwood shop offers knitting classes from beginner to novice, so you can be the local artist. and .
  • Dani Altieri Marinucci: This Westlake painter makes holiday cards starting at $4.95, plus originals, acrylic prints, canvas prints  and commission work. Prices range from $22-$100 for prints - see her gallery here.
  • Heights Arts: This nonprofit arts gallery in Cleveland Heights is selling the work of more than 60 artists from Cleveland Heights, Shaker Heights, Chagrin Falls and other areas in Northeast Ohio. Artists included in the photo gallery include Sue Berry, who is selling blown glass ornaments for $20 at the gallery, Genevieve Schwartz, whose $27 bracelets are going fast and Susan Roberts, who is selling felted pins starting at just $8.

I think the point of the story is that no matter where you live, if you look, you can find handmade items. Just look through the "Places" section of each Patch site to see all the diverse businesses listed within. That is the charm of Ohio...so many local businesses make it easy to find whatever you're looking for right in your backyard. And note to local businesses, if you haven't claimed your directory listing in the Places section...get going and do it!
