Local Business Profile: Robeks Makes Fast Food Healthy

Kit Arn has hiked rim-to-rim of the Grand Canyon and scaled the ruins at Machu Picchu in Peru -- tasks you don't take on easily with a greasy burger and fries in your belly.

"Fuel makes a big difference," said Arn, runs a  franchise in Fairlawn with his wife Katie.

Arn describes himself as "a lifelong exerciser, not an athlete -- there's a difference." The reformed marathon runner turned into a swimmer then a bike rider over the years. There's always some past time that keeps him and his family active.

"One of the reasons I liked (Robeks) is that the products are very clean. The smoothies are mostly sweetened with fruit sugar and the juices are made with filtered water. 

"It just fit into our lifestyle of healthy living and healthy food," Arn said.

How many people are employed at Robeks? In the summer we have about 31 people, in winter about 21.

How long have you been in business? We opened 13 months ago, July 5, 2010.

Our goals are 1) To be a profitable contributor to the overall quality of life in the community by offering healthy alternatives to fast food in a bright and energetic atmosphere. 2) To be a place where young people can learn basic principles of business and team work. 3) To support the local community with our healthy choices (through) activities.
