Fire at Montrose Golden Corral -- Update

Grease fire put out by Copley Township Fire Department.

 

Copley Township Firefighters responded to a call to  at 79 Springside Drive to put out a grease fire Sunday afternoon at approximately 2:30 p.m.

An employee at the restaurant reached by telephone said the restaurant did not close during the fire. He said cleanup in the kitchen was largely completed by 5 p.m.

According to Copley Fire Chief Michael Benson, the fire occurred in a deep fryer and was extinguished by the employees.  There were no injuries.  Total loss is estimated around $5,000 because the fryer may need to be replaced.

The Summit County Health Department was notified.  They will follow up tomorrow, as will the Copley Township Fire Inspector.
