Business Brief: Cucumber Recall at Giant Eagle

Stores in Fairlawn carried the cukes and have been calling customers.

According to the shoppers who bought cucumbers at Giant Eagle stores that were subject to recall this week (and used their Advantage card) have been called by the respective stores and received return/refund.

If you weren't contacted, the store said both Giant Eagles in Fairlawn  will take back any cukes you are feeling unsure about. Here's the info on Giant Eagle website and WKYC story.

Update: According to a witten statement from Giant Eagle: C.W. Hendrix Farms, Inc. of Boca Raton, FL has voluntarily recalled fresh cucumbers distributed from its facility between May 6 and May 13, 2011, due to possible salmonella contamination.

Giant Eagle said it has received no reports of customer illness, and none of the cucumbers currently available in-store are impacted by the recall.
