Just In: Michael Symon's B Spot, Among Others, Coming to Akron Area

The much-anticipated 400,000 sq. ft, $60 million project will break ground in June, and more announcements are coming regarding other retailers and restaurants which are set to join the new marketplace.

Michael Symon lovers, it's time to get excited.

On Thursday, Cuyahoga Falls Mayor Don Robart announced the first six restaurants and retailers that will be incorporated within the much-anticipated Portage Crossing development.

They include: Michael Symon’s B Spot, Chipotle Mexican Grill, Panera Bread, Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, a 92,000 square foot Giant Eagle and Pet Supplies Plus.

Symon’s popular joint, with locations in Strongsville, Westlake and Woodmere, will feature gourmet burgers and brats and a one-of-a-kind lineup of draft beers.

“These six retailers represent approximately 26% of the total retail project, said Robart in a prepared statement released on Thursday.

We are very close to finalizing an agreement with yet another major retailer, which will be more than double the size of the Giant Eagle store.”

The 400,000 sq. ft., $60 million retail space , which will be located on a 28-acre parcel off State Road and Portage Trail, is set to break ground this June, said Robert Stark, President and Chief Executive Officer of Stark Enterprises.

“All of these announced establishments share our vision of what the marketplace will become – bustling streets filled with the most popular national and regional retailers and dining establishments,” he stated.  “This is only the beginning of many exciting announcements yet to come.”
