Bites Nearby: Bombay Grill

Fresh, inspired Indian cuisine.

Few cuisines have the divine gastronomy, longevity or evolution that Indian cuisine has. The flavor profiles and culinary styles stretch back 5,000 years—influencing Caribbean and Asian fare—and have the fingerprints of the British and Mongols, Hindu beliefs, pervasive vegetarianism and the global spice trade all over them.

Translation: there’s a mouthful of history to get wrong. Bombay Grill makes sure the words “fresh” and “inspired” are second only to the word “authentic” when it comes to the outstanding menu they execute. Starters like the crisp Paneer Pakora (fresh Indian cheese fried in chickpea flour) make way for a whole host of sensational dishes, including Shrimp Vindaloo, Lamb Rogan Josh, Goat Curry, Malai kabobs and an anything-but-standard Chicken Tikka Masala.

Fresh-made breads, including roti, kulcha, paratha and leavened naan flatbread, compliment the meals with panache. The Pheswari Naan in particular—crowded with dried cherries, almonds, cashews, raisins and a coconut powder—is a luxurious pleasure. Bombay caters, delivers, and on Wednesday nights from 5-9 p.m., the herbivores in your midst are sure to appreciate their abundant Vegetarian Buffet. Great atmosphere, new Indo-Chinese dishes, Halal meats and a “bring-your-own-bottle” credo makes Bombay Grill a must-do for discerning, globally-astute diners -- 3750 W. Market St. Unit E, Rosemont Commons Plaza, Fairlawn. 330-664-0689. Open Tuesday—Sunday for lunch buffet and dinner. $10 to $24 for entrees.
