Bites Nearby: Beau's Grille

Fresh and elegant Tuscan-inspired fare.

A spectacular meal at a local hotel? If it seems contrary to you, know that you’re not alone. Akronites in the know will tell you that  is a must for a satisfying meal—and for out-of-town guests, an exceptional stay can be had at the Hilton Akron/Fairlawn which houses the restaurant.

Chef Beau Schmidt has scored many awards over the years with his namesake restaurant (this location is not the original spot) but the culinary spirit most certainly is original. Beau's has earned a number of local and regional kudos for its cuisine, chef, atmosphere and business luncheon readiness.

As for the food? Think Tuscan-inspired fare with a decidedly American flair. Beau’s Tuna Tartare and "Signature Sausage Appetizer"—a savory creole chicken sausage and mustard dish mentioned in Gourmet magazine—make for but two of 18 great starters.

Beau's prides itself on freshness and the umami found in the grilled sea bass with lobster-smashed potatoes an the "Italian Feast" bring forth pleasure with bursting flavor. With lunch, dinner and dessert menus to match, diners just can't go wrong.

The Tuscan décor, amazing terrace patio, stone hearth fireplace, big-screen HDTVs and sumptuous wine list at Beau’s Grille is inviting.

Translation: While most restaurants want tabled patrons to eat and scram (so the seats and checks get refreshed) this place makes it impossible to leave.

This is dining definitely skewed to the grown-up palate and personality. Dining with kids is probably best suited elsewhere, but a sans-kids date night should get Beau's another thumbs-up.
