Program Offers Summer Jobs for Teens

Young Audiences’ ArtWorks offers paid internships in the arts.

Know a youth looking for work this summer? Young Audiences of Northeast Ohio has more than 100 summer jobs for teens.

Teens entering grades 10 to 12 and looking for valuable work experience through paid internships can apply for Artworks Summer now.

ArtWorks Summer is a workforce development program for high school students designed to develop up-to-date job skills such as time and project management, collaboration, professional communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Students also will gain experience in careers through small groups working with master teaching artists. Apprentices work toward completion of a final product in the art form which is showcased at public performances and exhibits.

ArtWorks is an intensive six-week program, five hours a day, working in theater, dance, music, visual arts, architecture and culinary arts. Internships meet downtown:

  • Halle Building, June 13 to July 26
  • Tri-C’s Metro Campus, June 20 to Aug. 2.

No arts experience is necessary but teens should have a strong interest in the arts and a willingness to work in a multi-cultural environment.

Applications are due March 30 at 4 p.m. To apply or learn more about the internships offers, visit,www.yaneo.org/artworks/index/php.

Young Audiences ArtWorks is a multi-disciplinary, arts-based job-training program for Northeast Ohio high school students. ArtWorks apprentices create original work in theater, dance, music, visual arts, video game design, architecture and other art forms. Master Teaching Artists mentor apprentices and teach them the specifics of an arts discipline and essential skills that transfer to any workplace.

The Northeast Ohio chapter of Young Audiences' primary purpose is to make learning through the arts an essential part of young people’s education.  Programs take place in public, private, and parochial schools, reaching nearly 225,000 young people each year.
