Crown Point to Take Part in World Labyrinth Day

Everyone is invited to visit Saturday, May 4

 

Crown Point Ecology Center, 3220 Ira Road, will participate in the fifth annual World Labyrinth Day on Saturday, May 4.

Everyone is invited to walk the Crown Point Labyrinth at 1 p.m. The Crown Point labyrinth is open to all during daylight hours for quiet presence and meditation any day of the year except on major holidays.

World Labyrinth Day is an annual global event celebrated each year on the first Saturday in May, sponsored by The Labyrinth Society, which invites the world to ‘Walk As One at 1’ in an attempt to create a wave of peaceful energy moving around the planet.

To participate, people are invited to walk a labyrinth at 1 p.m. in their local time zone.

While the origin of the labyrinth is unknown, labyrinths have been found all over the world. The World Wide Labyrinth Locator lists more 3400 labyrinths around the world.

They are thought to enhance right brain activity, and uses include problem solving, conflict resolution, walking meditation, modern day pilgrimage  and stress management.
